Whisker

I wrote a short film that was funded by The New Zealand Film Commission. A homeless, desperate and hungry man enters a beard-growing competition - despite having no real beard worth mentioning. Directed by Steve Saussey, and produced by Yolande Dewey. Won the future film-maker award at the Palm Springs Film Festival.

Ladyink.

I recently directed a short documentary about Debbie Casson, New Zealand’s only specialist in areola repigmentation (nipple tattoos) following breast reconstruction surgery.

Most mastectomy patients simply don’t know that 3D nipple and areola tattooing even exists. So, post reconstruction, they carry on their lives with a blank mound that can leave them feeling incomplete.

We shot it over four days and three wonderful women, Tanya, Gill & Suzy, agreed to get their “cherry on top” on camera.

Produced by Tania Haitoua-Cathro, idea by Helen Morgan, DOP Fraser Clement. We submitted to Local Docs for funding, and they were keen, then they said no. So we thought, bugger it, let’s do it anyway.
